I’m, uh, skinny but not terribly short and I have decent legroom. I’m slouching a little but for the headroom, but it’s almost sufficient. This is a big freaking car

That was the second best third row of the cars we checked out. The only one with more room was the Ford Explorer (which is huge in comparison, but also seemed cheap behind the front row).

On the other hand, when that row is up the Ascent has basically no cargo room...

Mind you, I’m not tall, but it seemed to have barely adequate headroom. Definitely would work for kids of booster age.

I have not sat in the way-back of our Telluride, nor do I plan to.

The MDX was 2-3-2; the Kia is 2-2-3.

We have three kids, so I worried how much room we’d have for trips always needing to use one seat in the back, but it’s been no problem at all.

Interesting. I sold a few Explorers in my days of being a car salesman, and the Acadia/Traverse/Enclave always seemed to have more room to me. Maybe I was just biased since I was selling the Acadia and Enclave....

As far as I know. Odd part of the market for them to ignore for the last decade, considering they’re a SUV brand.

Including the 2020s? Those things are genuinely quite large inside and out. The third row was just as usable as the second, had plenty of head room, plenty of leg room, etc. The thing I didn’t like was the extensive use of cheap-feeling hard plastic and how different the material quality seemed to be from the front to second row.

As of this year, Subaru has sold more 3 row SUVs than Jeep in the US market*

*by total sales numbers not broken down into 2 row and 3 row versions. Neither company seems to break down those numbers, and both the Tribeca and the Commander could be had either way.

The actual answer gets murkier when you add overseas entries like the Jeep Grand Commander of China (adds 32,216 to Jeep) and the Subaru Exiga Crossover 7 (I can’t find concrete numbers, but I’m assuming its less significant ).

Lol, thanks for the doing the hard work! And thats actually pretty amazing. Amazing that jeep product planners left that much cash out there and said “no thanks” for this long.

Commander hit at the wrong time, but oof, they could’ve made a lot of money the last few years.
